Poem For a Stranger

Poem For a Stranger

A Poem by Ryan Halterman

Your picture reminds me of a woman on an old folk album my mom used play when I was young.
I would lie next to the speaker and hear her sweet soft voice go through my ears and dance inside my mind.
I imagined where this woman was while she was strumming her acoustic guitar in perfect harmonic rhythm,
intertwining with the sound of that woman's voice.
Fields of flowers bloomed under bright blue sky with a cloud streaking across it  weightless and free.
I knew not of microphones or recording studios or what was popular radio station.
All I knew was somewhere that beautiful woman had sang this song,
and on those days before I even understood what beauty was,
a woman was showing me by singing sweetly for me and me alone....
