Manhood in the 21st Century

Manhood in the 21st Century

A Poem by Ryan Halterman

Two men walked toward one another down a busy city street,
They walked at leisurely pace,
No rush....taking their time
They were well dressed men,
The suits they wore were not the most expensive,
They were not extravagant ..but...
They were enough and each man would tip his hat,
To each passing stranger and politely say good morning,
Sky scrapers stretched high in the sky, Towering above the men,
Sleeping giants made of concrete, steel, and glass.
They cast their shadows upon the men,
They blocked the rays of the sun from their lives,
But still they walked on down the street,
Never tripping up never missing a beat,
The two men met head on right at the corner of a busy street,
The men stood face to face, each sizing up the other,
All the people stopped and watched these men,
These men all stone faced with intent,
Each man extended their hand and they shook the others
Not saying a word while the whole world watched....
Then in unison they unzipped their fly....
Manhood in hand each man pissed on the others shoes.
Tipped their hats
and resumed their stroll,
More confident....proud and dignified...
