Dinner plansA Poem by Dave W.![]() Just a taste won't hurt........![]() Longing desire sits on my hearts throne, a savory aroma invites me to that hallowed ground called
"Kitchen" yet I cannot just brazenly taste of the evening's delights eating as a beast with no thought of decorum or a thief who lacks discretion no I must connive ponder and plan I rendezvous with a one brazed chicken "Dear, I think I'll get a drink" a line delivered masterfully, "Would you like anything?" yes, that’s believable, this ruse, a seed of deceit planted in my love’s ears.
I slink and slither away for a taste forbidden my stomach answering what was bidden There is the prize so piping hot just a cut a sliver of a slice what could a taste do, surely she'll appreciate my overview silently a drawer opens a knife removed, lid lifted with all the dexterity of a cat-burglar, "What did you think you were going to do?" I hear "Couldn't wait 30 minutes, could you?" accusations and slander strewn "You'll wait with the guests, now back to the living
room" At least a got a taste of defeat…….. © 2025 Dave W.Author's Note
