Serbian Green Opal

This is a poem dedicated to a friend, who is a genuine person, without guile.......

I tried

and tried

and tried

to write

 

with the eloquence of Frost

to capture emotion’s thoughts

 

as Hemingway captures the sea  

I sought to pen with brevity

 

to say my mind

in an effortless flow

 

yet here I am with nothing

 

the poem was  

to tell of a friend

 

what she means

in poetic pen

 

like a gem

she has so many facets

 

that beyond looks

she has depth of spirit

 

 

she is a fighter

never giving up

she inspires

 

she introduced me to Plath

to the sonorous timbre of Lindemann

to her patriot’s heart

 

she showed me

if she can push through

all the forces of darkness  

 Then I can too

 

Unfortunately

I couldn’t think of a way

to really write

all that I have to say

This was dedicated rated to a friend who helped me through a hard time, I have no romantic feeling for her, she is just a very great person and I wanted to show appreciation.
