Anathema Ego

Anathema Ego

A Poem by Dave W.
"

Anathema of the Ego

"
Oh that I could give
you this heart of mine

I would that it be torn from my chest
yet I am cursed with a desire to live

love is painful
I care not to feel again

won't you please take it from me,

to be numb or even the blessing of a coma,
to dream of better times and not wake

what is the point of affection
when passion is the problem

why fall in love again and again
is this the madness of existence

when I see my reflection a hatred flares
this is the one who gives me problems
 with his wants and needs

oh that I could be free of me
to love in purity
to stop dolor’s intensity

like a prisoner shackled
Ego follows

I have killed him time and time again
yet in the mirror that stupid grin

not to live
not to die
not here
not there

these are desires
but not the answer

In the dark I stumble searching for peace
