Winter's PainA Poem by Dave W.Sometime's the cold cuts right through the heart..........Share with me your sadness, let us drink bittersweet memories together. Isolated on a wintry night was not what I wanted, so come close and talk with me, speak of the deep things of your being, of unrequited passion and loved ones lost, I am burdened by the finality of "Goodbye", the locks of a heart's door I once had the key to, have been changed, I am no longer welcome, my vessel now empty, I speak hello and none call back. Tell me, have you ever known this pain? Have you ever returned home a stranger? Have familiar faces no longer recognized your visage? Have you ever known the heights of Cupid's loft, only to have adorations fire melt your wings, this is the path I walk. This night is one of weeping meditation. Tell me of your ways, trails you've trod. Tell of your pain, of unrequited love. Give me wisdom with how to carry amor's weight solitary. How is one to handle such a contradiction of feelings, the same feelings, that quicken the spirit, now slays the soul.
Thank you for drinking with me, on a winters evening chilled to the bone, it's good to have company with another heart that feels
alone. © 2025 Dave W.Author's Note
