"You can't go home again" Thomas Wolfe But there are alternatives. We can stay at home or we can carry "home" with us in our hearts. "No matter where I go, I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks" from the song "Boondocks" by Little Big Town A first love can leave a lasting mark but it certainly isn't the "best" love. New love is like new shoes, pretty and shiny on the outside but uncomfortable as hell until broken in. Old love is like fine wine or a favorite pair of threadbare jeans; getting better with time, not so fancy looking on the outside but fitting like a warm glove in winter. I enjoyed the read. F.
Don't you know I just had to sign back on to comment regarding this Nostalgia's Song? Dave W., the final line, "to return our only wish"...?
Is your ONLY wish for something "impossible"...?
So few lines speak so many ... Here I go thinking too much again! Sorry Dave W.
Nice work.
nice work says i! i appreciate it's brevity and story telling ... me Da once told me ".... we can never go back" though we do long to at times ... old neighborhoods and friends move on and we are strangers there after a point; but i love to visit my old stomping grounds from time to time and there are always some things that remain the same ... you poem has spakrked a bit of remeniscing now :)

ps. yes! music is a huge trigger
the only person who actually cares about me is a prostitute name Narumi. the moments we share together are magical, genuinely wonderful. i know im just a client to her, but i can tell she likes me (not that there's a future here or anything). i treat her right, and she gives me a lot of kisses. but this wont last obviously, and i already feel that this liaison is becoming just a memory...
