Cogitationes Gordianae

Cogitationes Gordianae

A Poem by Dave W.
"

Gordian thoughts

"

Gentle winter falls from the sky

clouds kissing the earth

heaven's tears on my shoulder

I am chilled in the night

all is silent except for the

tip

tap

splashing

and ringing sounds

surrounding me

a night of torrential thoughts

"Why didn't I bring an umbrella"

I interrupt myself

questioning aloud

what should take 10 minutes has turned to 30

Echoes of the past dash

across my mind as fast

as the flash in the sky

so much on my heart tonight

thankful for illumination via street light

Fresh air to clear the head

not minding the wet hair in my eyes

or the drops on my glasses

Continuing my trek

a short jaunt down the block

contemplation is my warmth

even as my body trembles to keep warm

A crack of thunder

snaps me out of

my cathartic reverie

seeking relief or answers

to these Gordian problems

time to head back before Zeus lights me up
