Finis Anni

Finis Anni

A Poem by Dave W.
"

Years end

"
Drifting in that place of quiet thought,
I contemplate the year
all that materialized,
all that disolved,
and all that is yet to come,

Somberly remembering
the delicate promises of a heart betrayed
there is strength from the pain

Wave upon wave of emotional deluge
drowning the soul
in tears wept bitterly
dizzy from the heights of passion's sumit
of heavens promised ascension

Stumbling and drunk on Spirit's of uncertainty
rumaging my spirit for the truth
of what it means "To be"
but never a question of "Not to be"

When soul searching
I found only more locked doors
when looking in truth's mirror
I hated what I saw
in revelations light
the darkness fled

There has been hurt
There has been healing
There has been joy
There has been sorrow
yet in all this I am here
at years end I am standing

I look into future's horizon
I can say it is bright
I look forward to all the riches that await.....
