Hunger that Cries

Hunger that Cries

A Poem by Dave W.
"

What do you want out of life?

"
Hunger that cries out,
of a dry and desolate valley,
call forth connection,
oh, desperate soul,
we can no longer stay in this place,
we have always known,
the waters of comfort have dried up,
now barren is what was home,
all the faces are disfigured,
contorted into monsters.

The past laughs at the present,
the future grimaces at the prospect of hope,
where can it be found,
no longer in wells of promise,
there is nothing to draw with,
they have run dry.

No longer familiar is this home,
no longer restful is this bed.

In quite of night,
I wonder the plane of my mind,
in the early morn,
my heart mourns,
I don't even know why.

I no longer have answers,
I no longer find comfort,
I am no longer satisfied,
all of my tears have run dry,
reason has left me,
my pantry is full of food,
and I have nothing to eat......
