Gone but not forgotten

Gone but not forgotten

A Poem by Dave W.
"

Memories are memorials to the dead.....

"
I let slip your fingers through,
desperately  held to the last.
The last breathe you drew.
Light extinguished so fast.

What's left are memories,
that day now a setting sun.
Images  fade and faltering,
our time is passed and done.

Still holding to what I can,
that smile shone so bright.
Time erodes a face so fast,
never to kill your beauties light.

days are hard. and they keep getting harder. but that's life, and we're all living it.
and live and live and live, we shall.
but we also need to find an expression to our grief. reading and writing poetry is one such way.
today, i was given a moment to allow myself to feel all that by reading this.
so, thank you for sharing this.
