Foolish OneA Poem by Dave W.On a scale of one to even, I just can't......Can you believe I opened up, what a fool I was. Head on the block, swift was the strike, I failed, I assumed, I cared, I am a stupid man. To bear one's soul to strangers, is brave? is cowardly? I don't know. Foolish it was to trust, like a friendly dog to the catcher, I can't do that again. I'll not believe the kind words spoken. Maybe it's not fair, to hold the rest to the place I have for that snake, but how will I trust, I am at a loss, not wanting love, not even wanting friends. Stay at arm's length, to get closer is a risk, I don't want to take. I won't be bitter, I won't trust, I will have to keep these feelings inside, scream into the void, hugging the air, never again......
