A drift

A drift

A Poem by Dave W.
"

Life is so fragile and humans can be so resilient....

"
Floating here in Mare's embrace,
I cling, I grasp,
clinching to what I may,
moonlight companion now hid behind stormy skies,
adrift, afloat,
life now more dear than when safety was taken for granted.

A trick of the eye,
was it light,
was it my mind,
a reflection of the sea?

Aqueous pendulum tossed with no regard for life, I survive.

What was that?
I am not alone with the brine,
startled feet brushed,
nipped, and nibbled.
Am I now become the prey to that which I was hunting?

Eyes now heavy,
I am content for fates decision,
blackness of the void take me,
I am through with this life.....
darkness is now my mistress....
an eternity passes....

Angels singing their aviary tones....
Warmth of Heavens light?
Why do I feel hungry, feel sand, feel the sea....
revelation hits, I survived.....
startled I hear a rumble in the distance,
what is this new land?

what a dramatic narrative. we are plunged (pun intended) into a story of a man drowning in sea. the descriptions of the sea are so vivid. i'm glad you didn't try to make this out to be some kind of metaphor, instead it is a straight story of one man, a sailor, facing a dreadful fate. as he slowly comes to accept his demise, it is riveting to read.
