Need

We all need someone....

I need you, 

all of you I need, 

as the body to the spirit, 

so is my heart to yours. 

I need your touch to quicken this dead carcass I carry, 

 your breathe to invigorate these lungs with life, 

your eyes to see my souls worth, 

the peace I feel in your silence, 

your voices' song to soothe my minds pain, 

your bosom to embrace after a days battle fought, 

the strength you give when I am weak, 

your mind to guide for decisions made.  

Years of living life half hearted, 

not realizing the emptiness,

 I now see my need.....

I don't believe we do need significant others, partners, in our lives. I know that if my marriage failed, partner died, I would happily live my life out on my own albeit with the same friend group.
My best mate of 55 years is making a right hash of his life since his wife died, this mainly due to the fact he finds bad company better than loneliness...strange

No, we are not islands in the stream...we need each other. Poets need each other.
This reminded me of the Beatles' song, "I need you" from the "Help" soundtrack.

This makes me ponder something. The best love is out of want more than need....maybe a dependent love is too fragile...
