Brooding Broken

Sometimes the storm clouds gather

What is this dark, 

this gloom, 

this settling pain, 

deeply seated in the hearts delight. 

Morose and brooding, 

collecting storm clouds, 

gathered on a looming horizon, 

fearful dreams, 

unsettled spirits, 

isolating thoughts kept company, 

by future shadows cast,
every twitch, every breath, 

every look given, 

dissected and studied.  

Reflection unfamiliar staring, 

questioning who wear's that face looking back.  

Empty eye pools, mirrored void.  

Vaporous virtue masquerading as a white knight, 

this ravenous wolf, this devouring basilisk.  

What is the nativity of this scoundrel, 

how did he make his habitation amongst the pure, 

this undefeated wretch that betrays, 

backstabbing, and conniving.  

Begone from me, 

let me not see your face.  

I have seen you before, 

you are not welcome, 

be gone.

In third stanza, I read it as "who wears" is that what you meant there?
Geez, this poem reminds me of someone who is running for the highest office.
The wolf, but not even hiding in sheep's clothing.

very vivid imagery. it could certainly be read as a metaphor, but the descriptions are so strong, that it could also simply be about an actual storm approaching, with the feelings that come along with that.
