To err is human.....

To err is human.....

A Poem by Dave W.
"

We humans make the most fantastic failures......

"
Emptied of all that I am or was,
this journey of self,
this discovery of what is,
what has been,
visited again and again.

What is this meaning,
a roundabout that has no exit?

I think therefore I am,
if I am not thinking right,
then this lensed reality is twisted.

Oh, to see the truth,
corrected,
pure.

Oh, for what really is.

Oh, for a world outside of my head,
untainted by jaded reasoning of others.

Why must the fall happen,
this ability to abandon reason,
sensibility,
just to come back to reason's judgment,
found guilty?

Surely justice has its companion with mercy.

Surely, I will find clemency due to stupidity.

Will I always just fall shy of attaining purity,
or will it always be just out of reach?

Sometimes our thoughts from overthinking become trapped in a never ending loop which is most difficult to exit and you have captured that so finely and poetically in this poem, Dave. An in depth poem with feelings well expressed. A poem which many readers will be able to identify with. The journey of self discovery is not an easy journey to undertake because it is taken inwards to deep inside our subconscious and not outwards into the physical world. It is a journey we all need to make from time to time. Great write! Thank you for sharing...

I agree, dear poet. Welcome always...
This poem is incredibly thought-provoking! I love how you explore the journey of self-discovery and the search for truth. The imagery of a "roundabout that has no exit" really captures that feeling of being stuck in our thoughts. Your questions about purity and the struggle between reason and emotion are so relatable—they make me reflect on my own experiences. The longing for clarity and mercy is beautifully expressed. You've created a deep and introspective piece that resonates on many levels. Great work

Thank you.Tumi
you have no idea how many times i completely fucked up this year, and i'd rather not go into it, but i will say this much - your words have had the deepest, deepest resonance. espescially:
"Why must the fall happen,
this ability to abandon reason,"
when i lose control, i lose it. completely. more animal than man.

thank you.
