Forgiven

Forgiven

A Poem by Dave W.
"

Sadness...

"
There is nothing to forgive,
you owe no debt to me.

Forget that we talked,
I will set you free.

I have no ill will,
I will move on you see.

With wings I have flown,
while you travel the sea.

Good bye my friend,
I will let you be.

This is the last time,
you will hear from me.

Sometimes even forgiveness cannot save a friendship, but at least the terms are not left without some closure.

Thankyou so much for the review
A poem with deeper than surface meaning. Forgiveness sets the forgiver free, no longer to carry the burden of anger, blame, resentment. And in this poem it is so well expressed in the first lines. "There is nothing to forgive you own no debt to me" The very feeling that must accompany forgiveness, It is as if it had never happened. Memory may well be there as seems apparent at the end of the poem but not the feeling. It is as if you had stubbed your toe, next time you remember to lift your foot but hold no grudge toward the stair. A most splendid poem
