I really tried

I really tried

A Poem by Dave W.
"

A poem about writing poems....

"
I really tried to write, to speak my heart true
I really tried to connect, to reach out to you

I stared at the paper, I scratched with the pen
I erased it all out, starting over again

A word written here, a line penned there
the first bit over, this is going nowhere

Ah the frustration, it seemed that I had it
not enough written, so I thought I would pad it

Flowering words made, the paper I did fill
the poem was over, my hand rested and still

I really tried to write, this poem for you.
I really tried to connect, to speak my heart truth

Sometimes writing a poem or anything for that matter is hard, eventually the block leaves, don't give up.

an incredible lament that so many of us here can relate to. writer's block is a unique type of suffering.
"There is nothing to express, nothing with which to express, nothing from which to express, no power to express, no desire to express, together with the obligation to express" - Samuel Beckett.

Right? I love to write and hate the block, when it breaks and the words flow, it's so satisfying. .. read more

There are a few, Jacob is one, who can write at will. Most of us(I believe) post the odd good poem with the remainder of our efforts leaving a bit to be desired.
I know there are many of my efforts that would look better in the bottom of a bin rather than on a global website:))

Aren't we all a little lost in one way or another....
We come to a creative stand still when we over use our ability and it becomes a huge struggle to write even a line. The more we struggle, the more difficult writing becomes. A writer friend gave me a very good tip to remove a creative impasse, as follows: Drink a large glass of ice cold water without stopping! It does the trick, balance is restored and the ability to write again returns. Being ice cold it shocks the body and the rest follows. Hope it helps, Dave. Great write! Thank you for sharing...

Thank you for the review
It seems like when we most want to put that emotion to print, words fail us!
