Again

Mistakes that are easily made are easily avoided

I fell again, again I fell, 

falling into the same pit that has swallowed me before.  

You'd think I would have learned by now, 

I wrote to myself never again, 

the only learning that will teach me is rote.  

In a weak moment I took the bait

 a trap I laid for myself, 

knowing all too well what waited in store.  

When will I learn, why is my head thick, 

nothing gets through, 

I walk through the fire once again, 

saying that this would happen never again.  

Again, I hit my head into a wall, 

like an abusive lover, 

I return to the familiar,

 that I swore I would never return to.  

Sisyphus has nothing on me, 

I can easily avoid this desire for self-destruction, 

yet I return.  

There is no comfort down these familiar streets,

 lost and wandering, 

I stumble, I fall, 

who will catch a fool?

Weakness is the shadow that leads the way. Exists in so many of us and about many things, situations, habits, etcetera. Is hard to let go, hard to see self trapped, hard to surrender the invisible problem.

Perhaps delends on the willingness to live for your life rather your next hour. Pros and cons, value or rubbish.. take your pick. What you have created is something precious, self needing to be seen by..

This is a great review, "Weakness is the shadow that leads the way." this is a powerful statement, to me it means one is walking away from the light, walking away from that higher self. I appreciate your thoughts and mind.

typo, sorry.. 'delends' should read 'depends' - must edit. My comment could mean walking away from that one or maybe two, three things that you're battling with or steering away from. Sometimes tis good, helpful, to sit back and empty mind for a teeny while. Close eyes, listen to music, listen to own gentle, uncomplicated thoughts. Perhaps.
