Late Summer AfternoonA Poem by Dave W.Just a moment in a late summer dayWind whips round, rustling leaves on a late summer’s afternoon. Heat distorts images on the horizon, a constant moment, this
heat will not end. In the distance, a jingle of Green Sleeves plays for children, in need of relief and tasty treats. Nothing stirs on this day, just a moment passing, a light breeze blows, cooling sweat. Crows caw calling to each other, a Heron skillfully fishes
in the warm pond out back. Cicadas constant drone akin to tinnitus humming in the ear, I was going to
do more. The lawn can be mowed tomorrow, I will just watch the clouds drift by, passing time. © 2024 Dave W.Author's Note
