Late Summer Afternoon

Late Summer Afternoon

A Poem by Dave W.
"

Just a moment in a late summer day

"

Wind whips round,

rustling leaves on a late summer’s afternoon.

Heat distorts images on the horizon,

a constant moment,

this heat will not end.

In the distance, a jingle of Green Sleeves plays for children, in need of relief and tasty treats.

Nothing stirs on this day,

just a moment passing,

a light breeze blows,

cooling sweat.

Crows caw calling to each other,

a Heron skillfully fishes in the warm pond out back.

Cicadas constant drone akin to  tinnitus humming in the ear,

I was going to do more.

The lawn can be mowed tomorrow,

I will just watch the clouds drift by,

passing time.

It was the end of summer, I wanted to freeze a moment of time with words.

May I ' watch the clouds drift by ' with you ? : )

There's something magical about the sky.
Summertime and moments passing by.

: ) This is so beautifully written and presented.
