Self-doubt

Self-doubt

A Poem by Dave W.
"

Inside there are two voices and you choose who you listen to.....

"

Self-doubt here again to make me question my potential,

to create fears of failure and mediocrity, my life inconsequential.

Self-doubt here again to remind me, past mistakes monumental,

when I failed, floundered, and flopped so hard, eyes glared judgmental.

Self-doubt here again, sirens call, give up, your dreams are unessential,

what point is there to achieve that which I know is uninfluential.

I get to decide what I listen to, thoughts my attention preferential

what will get my energy, what facts I deem to be instrumental.

I will not listen to that void filled voice, that demeans and lacks credentials,

for I have been made for this time, my life is not accidental.

I will become what I am meant to be, I have meaning, created providential

his hand has been on my life, guiding me, showing me, his plan I am essential.
