Day Pass

Day Pass

A Poem by the wretched
"

of being caged

"

the walls of this box

are embroidered with care

the padding of eiderdown

handcrafted, each square,

the fabric is satin,

the patterns, divine

the edging is gilded

no seams will you find.

its soft and its comfy

its roomy and spacious

warm and inviting

the creator was gracious

yes, everythings perfect

when you climb in to hide

but things aren't so pretty

from the outside

once tucked within,

you're restrained

the lid is closed

and now truth is plain

a cold gleam of steel

wrapped in old rusted chains

angles and edges

that slice with disdain

heavy padlocks

interlaced razor wire

jagged and tearing

resistant to fire

nothing can get in,

and you cannot get free

at least you'll be dying

in sweet luxury
