Do Not Go Quietly

Do Not Go Quietly

A Poem by the wretched

in moments when silence is binding

and most folks would begin unwinding

in these moments i am finding

i am not the same as they

for every second's quiet passing

something deep inside me's snapping

wishing for some harsh sound crashing

and the dreadful raux to play

the sound of glass explode and shatter

the icy rains relentless patter

of wall street wallets growing fatter

such trivalries that keep me sane

the roar of engines overhead

siren screams heralding dread

the endless screaming in my head

just as its louder than the pain

i'll take the sounds of war in action

the dying crowd's startled reaction

anything as a distraction

lest the silence cause me ponder

of things i know, and rather not

of memories, and things forgot

for here are chains, and here you'll rot

so move along, lest you get caught.

for though they say silence is golden

my tongue, you'll never find me holding

for rather have i, noisy tarnish

than contemplate my life in silence.
