Slipping Away

Slipping Away

A Poem by the wretched

i cannot belie, this long nagging doubt

i don't know why, thought i'd figured you out

the clockwork's confusing, the metal all rusted,

the crumbling heart, that once i had trusted

the eyes made of sea, that now seem more like ice

the fingers, once soothing, now grating like knives,

and whether this is, because i foretold it,

or whether these cards were the ones fate was holding

i do not know, and alas, do not care which

we'd never be here, 'pon a time once, you'd swear it,

and yet here we stand, as the rubble still echoes

if there's something you love, as you say, than just let go.

and if it comes back to you someday, it's yours,

but how can it fly if it's broken and sore?

This makes me think of a past relationship, and it has a lot of imagery I really like it
