Sad Still 7/17/08

A Poem by Secret Life of Me
"

If you've been following along, you will so understand this poem. If I'm new to you, you will see it from another angle.

"

My bird came back today

Fluttering in my window

Feathers yearning for my hand

His head lifted, flying

Straight to the cage

To wait for me.

I am sad still.

My bird has changed his song,

And months without him

Have left my sorrows fresh--

And I am sad still

To see him come home.

I should have closed the window

My bird brought with him

Those days before

When his song was new

My joy unbroken

My sadness still waiting

In his wings.

Yep, I see the sadness too and we have talked about it. I still say you ought to hold yer pretty little head up high. With this remarkable piece of poetry, you put feelings into words that tells a story of happiness mixed with sadness and it comes through very, very clearly. I envy your dead-on skills.

Excellent!

If I don't know the story of the prodigal bird, I do recognize the grace and skill of the poet.

I was talking to a friend of mine last night about changing relationships. How sometimes, one or both people change, but it doesn't mean the love isn't there ... although, sometimes, it does. And it makes me sad to see the changes when my own bird came back and to feel the longing for the old, familiar song.
