The Division 5/8/08

A Poem by Secret Life of Me
"

Nothing truer than writing at the time of intense emotion. This was in the middle of a horrendous breakup and I'm glad I captured it.

"

I love you because you are remarkable.

You love me because I reflect you.

While I fold the towels and stir the pot

My brain leaks out my ear canal

Onto the ceramic floor.

I grab a mop.

I am the purple armchair

My body holds yours,

I hold my breath patiently

And exhale on command.

I am the air in the room.

You are you and I am you

But you need to be me

Every blue moon or my cup

Will be empty

And then

We will be no one.

  I’m the purple armchair
