Eternal Darkness

Eternal Darkness

A Chapter by Philosophers' Dreaming
"

Devon's early existence written through his eyes.

"
The cruelest trick that was ever played on mankind was the concept of immortality...
It wasn't a blessing by any means, more like the curse of a thousand sins exacted on some poor soul all at once,
yet the punishment continues for eternity. Knowing I had to kill to survive was almost unbearable when I thought about
it... This thought alone made me try to go for extended periods of time, generally a week or so, without feeding.
I soon learned that doing so only increased the amount of blood needed to remain sane; however,
I eventually learned to cope with the madness that ensued after long periods without blood.
People would never believe a silly myth, or at least the fact that I was an actual vampire.
To say the least I sometimes enjoyed the fact that I held somebody's life in my hands.
Humans, we were so fragile and delicate; I now knew we were also quite the delicacy.
Now about two years after the accident that changed my life forever, as I would remember it to be,
my urges and impulses to kill anything that moved or breathed began to steadily slow down.
I could carry on a normal lifestyle to an extent, just at nighttime.
I soon met a group of creatures just as I was...
They explained to me that we had a governing body of older and wiser vampires.
Apparently we or vampires in general had a strict set of guidelines that we were to follow.
They included how we were to carry out our kills and the clean-up detail.
It also included what we were to do if a human or mortal were to find out our secret.
There are to be No witnesses...
If any other human should see one of us feeding, then they are to die swiftly and preferably without much disturbance.
In any story there is a mistake made, a person who sees it happen... You decide to keep her a dark secret though.
As dark as the Eternal Night you now live...
