Paper Heart Shredder

Paper Heart Shredder

A Poem by Aaron Burnette

Tears of regret

Cascade down this face.

You neglect the fact,

Focusing on ancient, pale scars of yours,

Not considering mine, not even caring!

I too have bled.

I also know the feeling from

Bleeding eternally,

From sentences peeling your pear skin.

Starving your mind.

Ripping your paper heart out,

Devouring it.

Shredding your soul to threads.
