MemoryA Story by Aaron Burnettejust a random thought not really a story
Memories are useless, yet useful. When times get rough, a person likes to look back and see themselves getting thrown down a flight of stairs tied up into a sleepingbag and say with a small chuckle "yes that hurt, but God Damn it, it was f*****g funny!". A person however does not like wasting life sitting on their own toilet, rubbing their hands through their morning nest hair and be reminded times of rape, an end of a relationship, or their part in the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. But those are also memories, memories that can't be erased.
Life most go on though, even with the option of suicide, which a high percentage sadly still commit each year. People change over time, because all time does is change. So humans are cursed and blessed with the gift of memory which sometimes brings sweet smiles to saddened faces and sometimes tears to loving eyes. Memories don't make people happy, but they can help. People are happiest when who they wish to be shows in their actions and thoughts. So optimism is the best weapon against bad and harsh situations that may have happened in one's past. So live life to the fullest. Don't apologize for things you haven't done, and look back to happy memories, the ones of your first pet, getting a mullet, or winning first place in a hotdog eating contest and throwing up afterwards. Smile and laugh, because you only have one life to live, so spend your breaths wisely and make happy memories, ones you can savor in times of personal trial and tribulation, laughing heartily. © 2008 Aaron Burnette |
