Beware of the Beautiful Black, Velvet Orchid

Beware of the Beautiful Black, Velvet Orchid

A Poem by Aaron Burnette

The black, velvet orchid blooms
Inside a shallow crevice,
Bleeding black upon rock.

The orchid..s shadow,
Darker than itself,
Crawls into my heart,
Attacking,
Bringing about a charcoal change in character.

I don..t want the Black, Velvet Orchid..s shadow
To plague my heart,
To overtake it,
Turning me into a monster..
