I'll Take Three Pounds Of Love, Please

I'll Take Three Pounds Of Love, Please

A Poem by Aaron Burnette

Why does love cost so much?
Do we suffer because of such sins?
Pennies and dimes can..t pay
For the damage
Nor can time lost..

Madness is created
When love lost is
Paid in full
With apathetic, moist tears
And words we never mean..

Forgiveness is the hardest
After guilt we pressure on ourselves
And thick, wool blankets with which
We cover our eyes,
Shield us from Truth.
