The Countdown

The Countdown

A Poem by Aaron Burnette

You run a race
Taking your time,
Keeping a pace.
Why rush?

When all our days are numbered
What else can we do but count?
Count away memorable days long past.

This is The Countdown
So why wait
For the clock to break,
Make a pretty dame blush.

Don't rush...

Don't wait...

Don't count...

You never know when you number will be called...
Have courage and confidence
To call her up to go out for a cup of creamy coffee,
Hold her hand and never let go...

For time is such an aweful thing to waste...
