With Love, Comes Tragedy

With Love, Comes Tragedy

A Poem by Aaron Burnette

Your flirtatious demeanor,
Bewilders me.

You liquored up my hopes
With your red rum tasting lips,
Immortal sweet scent of blueberry vodka,
Your seductive cinnamon Aftershock stare.

I continue to let you
Fiddle around with my heart-stringed violin,
Playing the most pulchritudinous symphonic tragedy
I reside in.

I can't take it anymore!

So…

Take your
Shotgun of Misleading Feelings,
Shoot a hole in my never ending, bleeding heart.
Kill my fruit fermented intoxicating aspirations
And move onto your next foolish victim.
