I Never Knew

I Never Knew

A Poem by Madeline Sime

I never knew you could feel this way
having your stomach tied in knots
thinking about someone.
Thinking about the person that is in your mind all the time
not being able to get that person out of your heart
no matter whom you see, kiss or want to love
that person is still in your mind
making your heart
their prisoner of a war
between love and hate.
I never knew somebody
could rob you of your identity
with your permission.
I never knew that
loving someone could be so difficult
that forgetting them becomes a mission
even if they take a part of your heart with them.
I never knew that after loving someone for so long
Hearing their name make you want to cry.
I never knew that loving someone could be so hard
That you have to cry yourself to sleep sometimes
And that you feel so broke inside
that believe you will never find the right one.

It's really good, yet the last line, I don't understand what you're trying to express, you say of loving them for so long etc, yes, nicely portrayed, and then the last line, "that believe you will never find the right one." I thought you have already found the right one yet you love them too much and it hurts?

Either way, very nice poem, keep it up!
