I think you may have forgotten the naugahyde sofa in the apartment living room of the eligible bachelor, but on the other hand, you simple words do sketch the scene in the most appropriate minimalist way

For decades, my sister has shelled out $40 apiece to collect Danielle Steele in hardbound . . . she must have a hundred books. Back when I thought I could relate to my sister if only I could plow thru some DS, so we could wax literary. I read a few of her books, but they made me feel so bad about my life. How come no rich handsome wildly-f*****g romeos have swept into my life, like it ALWAYS happens to DS's heroines. I felt like I was in the wrong neighborhood barking up some unreachable trees. In short, I love your observations here (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

And since self deprecation is always the conflict between the antagonist (ourselves) and the tormented world around us, we need not shy away from these conversations. My mother has, since I was a child, collected and read most of the Harlequin romance novels. And even though her eyesight is fading, she still finds fantasy in those stories of "found togetherness". And I must admit, I love a good romance movie also.lol/ thanks love....dana
And a dog. You got a belly laugh. If COVID ever ends and travel happens again I now live in Muskegon. We could meet for a coffee.

I think I would just find a place warm enough to write a poem in...lol. I would love to meet for coffee. thanks for asking....dana
Comfort viewing. Easier on the belly than comfort food. There has to be snow, there has to be kisses, so why not throw a dog in as well for the animal lovers. I find myself watching more of this stuff in covid times. Easy viewing,, passes the time. Keep safe and well dana.

I love the old Sherlock Holmes movies on Turner Classic they play on the weekday mornings. Holmes never fails....Kisses, never fail also. thanks Christine for those kind remarks...dana
The dog is the catch. Woman love the dog more than the man. Hello my dear friend. I hope you are doing well. Having some fun and being safe.

I am glad and stay safe. You are welcome my friend.
Your poem makes me wonder if the predicable structure of the story is what provides comfort. I don't know...but I do know that I enjoyed this little observational piece. The last line was my favorite part. After the snow and kiss...I had to just say "facts". Just when I thought it was over, you came back to give us another dose.

In 'Mystery 101, playing dead,' 'Snuffles' the dog gets shot after fouling the next door neighbour's front lawn. The dog's owner, (our heroine,) Marge Plumpfeld, a busy but compassionate career woman, waits until midnight, then sets fire to the neighbour's house; after which she dances naked under a hunters moon, before being riddled with bullets during a final and bloody shootout with the cops. Throughout it all, the handsome bachelor is continually combing his hair and giving himself admiring glances in the mirror.
OMGosh.. potato chips aren't comfort food anymore..?!?!?! dang.. I love this.. being from the first television generation we have become jaded for sure.. sometimes it's only salvation is the dog.. I am glad I stumbled across it..
I have yet to really understand the "hallmarks" of a really good Christmas story in fact It has been omnipresent in my mind lately having been trying to write one right now and all I can think of is and nobody died of plague today as an ending the stuff in between isnt coming to me

"Cosmopolitan" on it's December cover ,with Emma Roberts showing her naked baby bump and "dating lessons from pandemics past" stories have give pass to happy endings like potato chips (i've read) are no longer considered as comfort food. We are a lost generation if we can no longer find lovers compatible with our own astrological signs...lol. Happy holidays to you my friend....dana
lol, there is always a dog. Happy endings just aren't the same without one. Also there is a betrayal of some kind by one or the other that has to be forgiven before they can realize JUST HOW MUCH they mean to each other. yeah. Never fails, except in real life.
