lovemaking

lovemaking

A Poem by h d e rushin

Instead of division.

Let us speak of how our armpits

work the same as they did

10 thousand years ago.

When hairy men held lit

torches as they made love

and the women howled

thru the dark

in what we know now as a pretend orgasms.

And the leaves fell outside the

stone veranda and the bones

of apes were glasses full of red ochre. Yet

they encircled with their arms

with a pressure as affection

the kind I saw first in Ft Worth

where a woman I had eyes on

was teaching at the university

and who would run out of her flip-flops

just to see how the sun set

and how everything becomes the emerge

after evolution:

How listening builds trust.

How cuddling boost the immune system.

How forgiving makes

you less of a beast, again.

'.. .. run out of her flip-flops -- just to see how the sun set -- and how everything becomes the emerge -- after evolution: '

What a thought-inducing poem, not surprisingly - coming from you! Seems there's at least two paths to consider, perhaps based on Man's instincts wrapped in what- or whichever inherited genes. Whether to wander calmly, gently to the lakeside to drink with all manner of creatures, unadorned except for their own skin. OR ..to rage to the water, snarling and roaring only to find self sinking into mud churned up by fleeing animals.! Seems history's Monsters became extinct whereas many of the past's teeny organisms exist, near the same, today.

' Gentle the being that smiles at the world, taking the nearest hand, saying, 'Come walk with me, my friend, my love, my dawn. '

Forgive, too much.. Please keep well.

:)... i really must replace my flip-flops!
We make too much war, always have, possible always will. How peculiar when the alternative is so much more joyous.

Always, you are a force to be reckoned with, not just a pause for thought.

thank you Terpsichore for those kind words my friend.....dana
What is the mission of poetry, but to pull aside the curtain and show us the arc and sweep of our being--indeed, why should we bother if we are not at least trying to do such a thing? This is the most elemental thing which binds us all raised to the power of archetype, the universal wrapped abut the deeply personal, and no one does that better than you.

thank you wk......for finding me amongst the others. Dana
I love that this takes me 10,000 years in to the past. When man was one with nature.
To remember a time of innocence.

If only more people chose lovemaking, instead of all this division. And just took a moment,
to appreciate life and all its beauty. Then the world would be truly at peace.
This is lovely. Beautifully written and very profound.

The above lines are simple actions. We need a lot more of. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
