how to write a poem, bristly at the gape..A Poem by h d e rushin
It is true. No words beginning with G are ever poetic. I tried and wished but lacking in divine grace, nothing survived the granule, short lived, brilliant spot on the sun's photosphere.
I can see your seizure. The dreaded writers cramp as petit larceny. So this is a cure:
You start with a plot or a person honored but become excessive with absurd exaggeration. Find some L or Z words, they make for good contrast and usually flow to the horizon.
Make formal charges in which accused people are later charged. Fall out. I mean really, lay out on a crowded sidewalk or at Mcdonald's. Trust me, strangers will pat the back of your hand.
Find a moon. Own it. Grant to it your circles and your electrolytic anodes. Fall in love with a stranger, better yet, with someone you love. Find a wooden handle. Grip it tightly; unflinching..
Grind your hips while making love. Hallucinate. Call the name of flowers the names of your first born. Cut yourself but never after 7am. Bleed in the lake. Start all your sentences with perhaps.
Now, after you've done all of this, consider yourself a survivor = the act of passing from one proposition or judgement considered as true, to another whose truth is believed to follow that of the former.
Then sit very still and wait for a few moments. For, I swear, something two winged and tyrannical will visit you in the night.
And when she doe's, write her down. © 2013 h d e rushinReviews
