A Poem by h d e rushin
"

the end is near.

"

According to Mayan prophecy December 21st will mark the end of the world. The reversal

of the earths polarity and the arrival of the death star.

The cat, did I mention was a rescue, will do everything backwards, hiding his turds in

Grandma's bedroom since shes 92 and thinks every scent is something baked.

I will speak to my neighbor again and try to forget that his dog dug under the privacy fence

and ate the business side of my hibiscus, which he denied, but I saw him do it and tried to

stomp his paws.

I will finally go to church and be spared from the lake of fire, the place my mother has

most assuredly presumed that it is where I will end up, or at least since 2008 when

Pastor Pinkert preached on homosexuality and kept looking at me, knowing that some of

my good friends dress up as women and crowd into bars wanting to be loved. One a Vietnam POW

in the  Hanoi Hotel.

Or I will make a run on groceries at the corner liquor store and stock up on packaged,

microwaveable sandwiches and Doretoes and play my 567 in the lottery that since the

end of the world is coming you know damn well is going to fall with no happy souls

left to claim the winnings...(?)      dana

I had to smile and laugh when I read that last stanza, you just know that is exactly how it would go down. As for the rest of the poem I was fond of how you began the piece with the weighty subject of the end of the world (polarity shift) then reversed the conversation with your cat doing things backwards... The dog eating the business side of a hibiscus, then the going to church, homosexuality, And your friends dressing up as women... the idea of polarity slipping into our daily lives was thought provoking, in the sense that it is already all around us but we fail to notice or it is frowned upon... I began to think of my little brother's old Superman comic books which featured the Bizzaro world, where everything is the opposite of the so called "real'' world.... A fascinating good read, dana

lol. Either a note or journal entry. It's the way a crisp leaf, having its own structure and shape, will eventually succumb to gravity and water. So much water... It will bend itself, and snug warmly into whatever is beneath it. A sort of thank you for creating a bottom. And for some reason your writing made me think of it.

if you decide to rearrange those numbers to 657..you'll owe me half :P Since we are still here, it's probably best to get on with the un-eaten half of business side of your hibiscus.
