Not so different

Not so different

A Poem by Matt Artis
"

This is what I see when I take a look at what is happening around us.

"

Read your bible, say your prayers

You are the chosen people

Fear not the Heathens coming

For god’s paradise awaits his flock

Read your Koran, say your prayers

You are the chosen people

Fear not the infidels coming

For god’s paradise awaits his flock

Two different theologies making promises

To the faithful they command

Both containing their own extremists

Preaching hatred veiled as divinity

A bomb is a bomb

Whether strapped on a body

Or dropped from the air

Martyrdom or Patriotism matters not

When innocent blood is spilled

In a world of lies and fear

We create the monster

And become the same

Misguided actions negate the purist intention

How long must we endure

This latest holy crusade

Before we focus on helping

Instead of destroying?

Will we welcome more destruction,

A mutual act of annihilation?

Is it our fate to burn out this way?

Is it too late to change the course?

We are not so different you and I, or "us" and "them"

We enter and exit the world the same

Lets live our lives with out borders of hate

And embrace our humanity before its too late
