Like a DoveA Poem by Drowning In RealityArt: Ivy Dala tilt 1 by J.PlanetLike a Dove As Summer burns off The last Persephone’s offerings I contemplate my path Which direction to turn I am emerging Frightful thought My cave is peaceful Dark and secluded Only Love dwells here The world creeps in Of late I sigh as I look ahead Cheers and boos Feel the same The need to conform Embraces me When either is offered. I fear conformity I’ve never done it well. Self confidence Is overshadowed by Memories of tripping Over shoelaces On my way to glory. The mystics warn Do not force What is to come. Allow it to come to me. Sound advice! How can I be steady If I am strained to the max, Overrun by fear, Seeking material goods Which only disappear in time, I am better off allowing The slow burn of passion To build gracefully within. I seek a higher knowledge. Fasting is good for me In small doses. Cleanses the soul Clears the mind of debris To allow the Divine Wisdom To descend like a Dove © 2017 Drowning In RealityFeatured Review
