Memories of an Oxnard Beach

Memories of an Oxnard Beach

A Poem by Drowning In Reality
"

Couldn't find an old pic of Oxnard, so I posted on of San Francisco from my last visit. Not the same at all, but it is the Pacific Ocean. :-)

"

Memories of an Oxnard Beach

Parties on the beach
Drunken angels in the dark
Roasting weenies on a stick
And marshmallows after

Then was Now
Juxtaposition of generations
Personalities from various locations
Laugh together around sacred flames

Run along the shore
Wrapped in a warm blanket
Deserts never hold the heat
Once the sun goes down

Moon reflects on the horizon
A million billion points of light
As above so below
Read the Creation story in the night

Navigational tool of ancients
Age of Aquarius in the distance
Day in the Life played on an out of tune guitar
Love is all we need proven in that moment

No one left to share my memories
Keeper of the flame with blank spots
Rolling Stone of then not Rolling Stone of now
Altered through space and time

I remember standing on the Silver Strand
Looking out into Eternity
Perspective lost in translation
You can’t go home again
