Ophelia

Ophelia

Ophelia

I swim in a sea of uncertainty
Afraid of reaching the shore
I drown in concerns unbidden
Seeking absolution when I do wrong

My emotions surround me
I wear my heart on my virtual sleeve
I am metaphor for change
Impermanence is my battle cry

Inside tears still flow
Most people don’t want to see
I laugh like an idiot
At the stupidest things

Making sure no one can see me
Ophelia is my guardian saint
She protects me from the Truth
I am her. She is me,

Our fate intertwined
She is my sister,
My other,
My friend.

The first two lines are dynamite! The best I have read in a while. I wish that I had written them! Unfortunately the poem goes down hill from there; crashing at the bottom. It seems very confusing to me. I sense that you're getting at something but it remains obscure to me.

I really like the first two stanzas, and, as the other reviewer said, the first two lines "are dynamite". I also like the line "impermanence is my battle cry", as it is very true: it is very difficult to defeat someone in battle when he or she already accepts his or her own mortality.
