Ode to Joy

Ode to Joy

A Poem by Drowning In Reality

Ode to Joy

I love Bob Dylan
Don’t know why
He’s shown distain for women
Like me
Repeatedly over the years
In lyric
And song
But he writes
One hell of a poem
Like Byron
Who came before
Long ago
And far away
I listen to the Goddess
Sing of Boots
Of Spanish Leather
And mourn
The eyes I looked upon
From five feet away
And understand
Angels are passersby
Who teach us lessons
We prefer not to learn
But can’t help smiling
At God’s sadistic
Sense of humor
I don’t talk so loud
Nor do I talk with pride
When I acknowledge The Word
As it passes by
Bright blessings
To the Muse
Dedicated to Truth
Humility fills me
In the shadow of your Grace
Tears flow
Acknowledging my iniquity
In the face of Glory
Yet your light points the way
To where I seek to travel
Though it breaks my heart
In every port
I visit
