Short Sighted

Short Sighted

A Poem by Drowning In Reality

Short Sighted

I rose the ladder to forever

I met the angels

Who fought with Jacob

They sang of prideful men

They sang of angry women

They sang of children

Taught hate as infants

They sang of those

Who lost their vision

Of their own Divine

Through neglect of the soul

They sold eternity for possessions

They sold eternity for convenience

They sold eternity for power

Now all they have is possession

Conveniently preserved

In their fleeting moment of power

Tomorrow’s energy

Burned away today
