Road to Peace

Road to Peace

A Poem by Drowning In Reality

Road to Peace

I cleanse myself of what was

Tired of fighting

Passion’s holocausts scorch me

Stagnation bores me to tears

A pail of cold water slaps my face

I awaken to the reality of existence

I am the war that is

I am the hatred around me

If I want peace

I must become

The road that leads there

I must accept my role

Break dependency on old patterns

Which harm my tranquility

Accept my power

Change one breath at a time

Rise to the challenge

Dance with determination

Toward my brave new world
