Traditions of Love

Traditions of Love

A Poem by Drowning In Reality

Traditions of Love

Traditions of love

Defined uniquely

By couples

Families

Communities

Nations

Humanity

Enlightens collective consciousness

Saves an individual soul

Holds the universe together

Oft forgotten when

Hidden behind pain

Blinded by fear

Limited by imagination

Reflection of my opened heart

Lies in my lover’s eye

In my children’s eye

In my neighbor’s eye

Christ saw it in His enemy’s eye

Strive to emulate

Too often miss the mark

Too often miss the mark

Understand great truth

Love begins with self

Can’t do unto others

‘Til I learn to do unto me

Love shows my gratitude

Love celebrates life

Love lights the shadows

Duty most high

Raison d’etre

The change I love to be

The me yet to come

Nirvana in Samsara

Contentment despite the coldest wind

Finding Divine is easy

Follow the bliss

Within and without

Blessed by surrender

Communion of Saints

Forgiveness of Sins

Life everlasting

Religion most high

Gospel of change

Divine Healer

Sacred worship

Gloriana

In an infant’s eyes

Traditions of Love

i was intrigued by your avatar and "handle" .. saw them at Kelly's Scheppers poem "Garbo" .. so i came to visit :)
wow! i think your poem reflects a well won experience in life .. how will we ever "find" if we first do not seek?
the step by step progression of this free verse is way together ...in reading i automatically had to stop and let the line sink in a bit .. then wrap up in repeating the title is perfect says i! it doesn't always work out so well ;) i hope more people find this and write reviews for you ..its packed with good stuff!!!
