absence..

As the last rays of the sun

 flicker and vanish beyond the recesses

of the horizon..

I close my eyes and make a wish

the same little wish I've been cradeling

for so very many days.

I look at the moon and the stars

in their festoons in the night sky

while the mock me in their celebration.

They meet each night...

like we used to.

Now all i have are your memories and your hopes.

I look at the clock

and pleed it to move faster

while it sniggers and says

I'll take my own sweet time..

I go down on my knees and pray

for this void

to fade away...

I float on the boyancy of the memories of your words

dreams of you keep me alive.

And as another day

fills my sky with unwanted light..

I whisper to nothingness

"come back.."
