A Poem by william andrews

Do we not see

the shadows

when we look

in our eyes

do we not see

the rivers of pain

we bring in our name

when we speak words

that compromise

all the thoughts

we hold inside

where our wisdom

can do nothing

but cry

why

This is the old chestnut of not engaging our brain before opening our mouths, isn`t it? As poets we can disseminate our thoughts and feelings when we write, but somehow the jumble of emotions gets in the way when we open our mouths! I like this a lot, William. P.
