Memories

A Poem by Doreen
"

Sometimes a scent can bring it all back. (The photo is my creation)

"

Languid kisses

on a lazy, cool, rainy afternoon.

Raindrops echo in the tranquility of rainbows.

Crickets sing melancholy verses;

a wistful cadence sung in tune.  Fireside warmth:

popping,

crackling.

Marshmallows roast

on whittled sticks.   Like bookends

on the couch, our legs entwined"

you read yours

I read mine.

I peek over the words

to steal a look.  You smile

and pretend not to notice.  Downy softness;

an oversized sweatshirt  "

It still smells of you.

I can relate to this to the point of hearing the crackling and popping by the fireside. Excellent poetry.

Thanks. :)
To be honest ... I adore this. It doesn't try to be anything more than a wonderful memory. My only niggle is a small one. Languid sent me to the dictionary and when I got there, I saw two definitions that would give your poem wildly different beginnings. Now the context in which it is found clarifies this quickly, but a different adjective might remove that momentary confusion. Beyond that ... I call this brilliant, some of your very best work.

Scent is my number one tactile sense.....I love the smell of vanilla, it does me in every time, and when the significant other has there own smell as a result of some weird chemical reaction with your senses...nothing better. Heavy sigh...great writing.

This just made me weak in the knees...
A scent does have a strong capability
of bringing someone to a special place
in time where memories where golden.
Beautifully written Doreen...

This is wonderfully rich and romantic; sensual, without being trashy...I really like that.

you filled this scene wonderfully - sights and smells that bring my own memories .
