I LikeA Poem by Doreen(The photo is my creation)I like to put my toes
in a cold stream on a hot day and watch the icy water
re-direct itself to accept me. I like how it feels to wiggle my toes as I grimace in pleasure, sucking air through my teeth, then shiver and giggle out loud.
I like the memory of climbing onto the roof as a child to watch the sun rise, feeling like the only person alive at 5:30 in the morning. I like the nostalgic feeling I get when I wake
to see the horizon in a blaze of burnt sienna and move to a dusty gold then gentian
blue. I like a fresh cup of apple cider on a fall day when the leaves are in bold, beautiful shades of amber, lemon, and crimson. I like the feeling of my cheeks being chilled
by nipping air, of being just warm enough in a favorite, thick, soft
sweatshirt. I like the way the air smells of moss and clean soil after a summer rain. I like the feeling of humidity
that dances over my skin before a cool breeze gently blows making goose-bumps
stand on my arms.
I like the quiet hush as it snows at night, the glinting of light off the flakes making it look like magic. I like
the way it compresses under my feet when I walk on it, making a sound like
giants eating cereal. © 2015 DoreenReviews
